To control the level and color of the engine oil, proceed as follows.
1- Put the tractor on a flat surface and turn off the engine. If the engine is already running, wait a few minutes for the oil to collect in the tank.
2- Remove the engine oil measuring rod 1 from its place.
3-Put the cleaned oil dipstick back in place. Then remove it again to check the oil level.

If the oil level is between the minimum and maximum marks, the oil level is optimal. Otherwise, you should bring the oil level to the desired level. In the engine of Ferguson 285 tractors, the amount of oil required to reach the oil level from minimum to maximum is 2 liters.

The oil warning light on the dashboard is related to oil pressure and has nothing to do with the amount of oil in the oil tank. Whenever this light turns on, it indicates that the oil pressure in the engine has decreased, which can be one of the reasons for the decrease in the amount of oil.
