What are the characteristics of triticale?

Triticale is a species of the cereal family, which was created from the crossing of bread wheat and rye. Morphologically, triticale is very similar to wheat. In this crossing, wheat was used as the mother plant and the pollen grains were derived from rye. Triticale has inherited the properties of cold resistance, adaptability to adverse environmental conditions, high lysine content and faster growth from rye and high protein percentage from wheat.
